Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 August 2026

The Family Nest respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains what information I collect, why I collect it, how I use it and how I keep it safe when you use The Family Nest website, book a course or contact me.

1. Who is responsible for your information?

The Family Nest is responsible for your personal information and acts as the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law.

If you have any questions about how your information is used, please contact me using the contact details provided on the website.

2. What information do I collect?

Depending on how you interact with The Family Nest, I may collect:

When you book a course

  • Your name

  • Your baby's name

  • Your baby's date of birth

  • Your email address

  • Your telephone number

  • Your preferred method of contact

  • Information relating to your booking and attendance

Information you choose to provide

You may choose to tell me something about yourself or your baby that you feel is relevant to attending the course.

I do not routinely ask for detailed medical histories or health information. If you voluntarily provide health information, I will use it only where necessary to help me understand your needs and support safe and appropriate participation in the course.

I will not retain health information beyond the period reasonably necessary for this purpose.

When you contact me

If you contact The Family Nest by email, telephone, WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook, I may keep the information you provide in order to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, administer your booking.

3. How do I use your information?

I use your information to:

  • Process and manage your course booking

  • Take payment and provide confirmation of your booking

  • Contact you about your booking and the course

  • Provide appropriate support during the course

  • Manage attendance and catch-up arrangements

  • Respond to enquiries

  • Maintain appropriate business records

  • Improve and understand how people use my website

  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements

Where you have specifically agreed to receive marketing communications, I may also use your contact details to tell you about future courses, services and events offered by The Family Nest.

4. Lawful basis for using your information

I only use your personal information where I have a lawful basis to do so under UK data protection law.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

Contract: where your information is necessary to provide the course you have booked and manage your booking.

Legal obligation: where I need to keep or disclose information to comply with a legal requirement.

Legitimate interests: where it is necessary to run and improve The Family Nest, provided this does not unfairly affect your rights and interests.

Consent: where you have specifically chosen to receive marketing communications or where consent is otherwise required.

If you provide health information, additional rules apply because health information is special-category data. I will only use such information where necessary and where an appropriate condition for processing applies.

5. Marketing

I will only send marketing emails to you where I have the appropriate permission to do so.

When you book a course, you may be given the option to tick a separate box agreeing to receive information about future courses, services and events from The Family Nest.

You do not have to agree to receive marketing in order to book a course.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe option in a marketing email or by contacting The Family Nest directly.

If you ask not to receive marketing, I will keep a record of that preference so that I do not contact you with further marketing communications.

6. Who do I share your information with?

I do not sell or rent your personal information.

I may share information with service providers who help me operate The Family Nest, where this is necessary to provide the service or operate the website. These may include:

  • Squarespace, which hosts the website and provides booking, registration and website services

  • Payment providers used by Squarespace to process payments

  • Google Workspace, where information may be stored securely for business administration and customer records

  • Meta (Instagram and Facebook) where you choose to contact The Family Nest through those platforms

  • WhatsApp, where you choose WhatsApp as your preferred method of contact

These organisations may process information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

I may also disclose information where I am legally required to do so.

7. Website analytics and cookies

The Family Nest uses Squarespace's built-in analytics to understand how visitors use the website, such as which pages are visited and how people find the site.

The website may use cookies and similar technologies to provide essential website functionality and analytics.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some website functions may not work correctly if certain cookies are disabled.

8. How long do I keep your information?

I will normally retain customer information for 12 months after the end of your course.

After this period, information will be securely deleted unless I have a legal or other legitimate reason to retain it for longer.

Where you have withdrawn consent for marketing, I may retain a minimal record of your request or preference so that I can ensure you are not contacted with further marketing communications.

9. How do I keep your information safe?

I take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.

Information is stored using password-protected accounts and reputable service providers.

However, no method of transmitting or storing information online can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you

If you have concerns about how I have used your personal information, please contact me first so that I can try to resolve the issue.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), which is the UK's independent data protection regulator.
